Ghumakkad Kavita Team
A brainchild of a beloved friend and a wonderful colaborator, Gaurav Gothi. This concept when brought to light click very well within our local poet community here in Bangalore and soon we started on materializing things for our first ever show which was planned way back in February 2017 at Betul, Madhya Pradesh. Gaurav has been instrumental in bringing the concept to the table along with a lot of essentials, such sponsorship, connects, requisite manpower and local poets of Betul. He had a very clear vision of the first program in his mind and that has been the key towards smoother and efficient execution of various processes. This program has now been planned on 16th September 2017 in Betul at Hotel IC Inn. Along with the excitement, everything seems to be in place.
I am Brijesh Deshpande, a co-designer and an ardent believer of the thought of Ghumakkad Kavita. Numerous calls and sessions with Gaurav have helped me get a wonderful insight about GK. We all have contributed in all forms to make this work and making this a reality was the sole goal of each individual.
We also had some interim help from Ranjana Tripathi, Faiz Akram and Rahil Arora, as we neared our deadline. Ranjana, Faiz and Rahil are a part of the poets team who are performing at Betul.
In years to come this team will grow and I wish all the success to all team members. Anxiously waiting to be there at Betul with all poets from Bangalore and Betul. It's going to be a fun event eagerly looking forward to it.
Catch you all on the other side of this exciting event,
Ciao,

What's Ghumakkad Kavita?
The Concept
Poetry scene in India has always been growing through various times. In ancient times it had its own importance, then it grew through various crests and trough of time through medieval ages, through the freedom struggle days it came all the way here till date. All this while poetry was always moving ahead. Ahead of its times poetry grew to a different level in every time. Poetry is considered the most niche form of literature and has been regarded greatly by all languages, regions and cultures.
While ensuing our poetry through passion, love, recitations and various meetups and sessions, we struck over this small yet significant concept of ‘Ghumakkad Kavita’. The word ‘Ghumakkad’ is a word derived from Hindi, which means ‘one who has habit of travelling’. The purpose of this program is to ensure that poems from across Indian land are brought to light, whilst allowing poets from bigger cities to collaborate with poets of smaller towns. This shall help in bridging the gap and will even create more opportunities of exploration across various parameters of poetry. Such an amalgamation will surely help boost poetry thereby bettering it all the way.
